The quiet and efficient power core—the brushless DC motor.
2026/02/12
Working principle
Its core principle is “electronic commutation.” The motor’s stator consists of coils, while the rotor is a permanent magnet. Sensors in the controller—either through physical sensors or via algorithm-based sensorless detection—continuously monitor the rotor’s position in real time and precisely switch power supply to the stator coils in sequence, generating a rotating magnetic field that “attracts” the permanent-magnet rotor, causing it to keep spinning continuously. The entire process is intelligently controlled by a circuit board.
Core features
High efficiency and energy savings: With no brush friction loss or sparking, it boasts extremely high energy conversion efficiency, making it a key factor in upgrading the energy efficiency of household appliances.
Long service life and high reliability: With the elimination of wear-prone brushes, bearings become the primary wear parts, significantly extending the service life.
Low noise and low vibration: smooth operation, minimal electromagnetic interference, and an excellent acoustic experience.
Precise and intelligent control: The rotational speed can be continuously and precisely adjusted over a wide range, making it easy to implement complex control logic.
Major household appliance applications
Air conditioners: Both the indoor unit’s through-flow fan and the outdoor unit’s fan in inverter air conditioners almost entirely use brushless DC motors, enabling precise temperature control and quiet operation.
Washing machine: The high-end drum washing machine features a direct-drive motor that eliminates the belt, directly driving the inner tub with a brushless motor for smoother and quieter washing.
Refrigerator: The inverter compressor uses a brushless DC motor that adjusts its speed according to temperature demands, offering energy savings and minimizing temperature fluctuations.
Fan: DC inverter fan with gentle and delicate airflow, multiple speed settings, and highly energy-efficient.
Kitchen appliances: high-end blender with powerful blade technology, vacuum cleaners, dishwasher pumps, and more—designed for robust yet controllable power.
Summary
Brushless DC motors represent the future direction of motor development in home appliances. With higher technological costs and superior performance, they are gradually becoming the standard configuration for enhancing appliance quality and user experience.
